We start with a round or square canvas (either 20 or 30cm), then build up a base with concrete effect, modelling paste or textured paint. Press lace or other patterns into the surface, add cast moulds while the texture is still workable, or build it up even further with raised stencilling.

Once the layers are set, the fun really starts: paints, coloured waxes and metallic highlights bring out all that lovely texture and detail.

Go bright and colourful, dark and moody, aged and grungy or somewhere completely different. There's no set design to copy — the whole point is to make yours truly yours!

Who says art has to go on a canvas?

Bring something you'd love to reinvent, or choose something from our collection to work on. A plant pot, small piece of furniture, old frame, wooden box, bottle, tile or charity-shop find... if it has a surface, we can probably embellish it.

This workshop isn't tied to one particular technique. You'll have a whole stash of materials to play with — decoupage papers, paints, clay moulds, stencils, stamps, image transfers, textures, metallics and more.

Come with an idea, take inspiration from our examples, or just see where the materials take you.

Choose from a square or rectangular tile and start with a layer of grip to give you a textured base to work on.

From there, build your design with paint and decoupage, add matching clay moulds, then bring in stencils or stamps if your design calls for them. Finish by painting and highlighting your moulds to pull the whole thing together.

Start with our Persephone goddess and make her completely your own. Add flowers, jewellery, hairpieces and other embellishments, then bring her to life with paint, coloured waxes, metallics and ageing effects.

Go glamorous, gothic, ancient, colourful, punk, Frida-inspired, Egyptian-inspired — or come up with a goddess we haven't seen before.

Bring a small piece you'd like to transform — a stool, little table, frame, mirror or similar — or choose one of our papier-mâché creatures.

We'll show you how to combine and layer different decoupage papers to create your patchwork, then use paint to bring the whole design together before sealing your finished piece.

Mix florals with stripes, birds with botanicals, bold colours with vintage prints... coordinated or completely mismatched, it's up to you.

Bringing your own piece? Tell us what it is when you enquire so we can make sure it's suitable for the workshop.

Start with a tin or jar supplied by us, or bring a small item of your own — a drinks bottle, lunch box or something else you'd like to transform.

We'll prep the surface, then the kids can get stuck into decoupage and paint, with stamps and simple clay moulds to add if they fancy.

Make it colourful, patterned, themed around something they love or just make it up as they go.
